MountainStar will serve 200 children and their families through our Outreach and Therapeutic Classroom Programs during 2006-2007. Families may enroll multiple children in the program and participate until their children reach the age of four. |

Prior to receiving services, all clients undergo an initial intake that includes an assessment of the child and family’s needs, risk factors and goals. At that time, each family is helped to develop an initial Family Plan that details their specific needs and expectations and serves as a benchmark for periodically assessing progress. |

At the conclusion of this assessment, families are assigned to either our Outreach Program or Therapeutic Classroom Program. |

We currently transport 77% of the children enrolled in our Therapeutic Classroom Program to and from our facility as their families have no transportation and Deschutes County has no public transportation system. |

Over the past four years, MountainStar has developed a thriving program in conjunction with 35 other local service providers and the eight other Oregon Relief Nurseries. |

Enrollment in our Therapeutic Classroom Program nearly doubled from 35 children in 2003-2004 to 67 children served year-to-date in 2005-2006. |

Enrollment in our Outreach Program skyrocketed during this same period, from 29 children and families served in 2003-2004, to 98 year-to-date in 2005-2006. |

98% of the children attending our Therapeutic Classroom over the past year demonstrated increased self-esteem and age appropriate cognitive and motor skills; 76% of the parents demonstrated a reduction in family stress, improved parenting behaviors, and reduction in risk factors for child abuse or neglect; and 100% of families were efficiently and effectively supported in pursuing support as needed from other community resources. |

On March 20th, 2006 MountainStar was named the first-ever “Organization of the Year” by the Bend Chamber of Commerce in recognition of our significant contributions to this community as an outstanding non-profit organization. |
