Tim Rusk, Executive Director
As Executive Director, Tim is reponsible for overall organizational management, including leadership, strategic planning, fund raising and development planning. He develops and maintains working relationships with the Board of Directors and the community, and acts as chief spokesperson to government agencies, community organizations and the general public. Tim has over 15 years experience as a non-profit manager, trainer and consultant.  He was a Program Director for a work experience and youth development program where he was responsible for 70 employees and $1.5 million in grants and contracts.  Tim has a Masters in Organization Development and extensive training in coaching, leadership, personnel law and personal development.

Cherie Skillings, Program Manager
Cherie Skillings, Program Manager. Cherie has a B.A. in Psychology from the Family Studies program at Corban College. She will complete a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2008. Cherie has been an Early Childhood Mentor and Master Trainer through Portland State University. She has facilitated parent training in Deschutes and Crook County. Cherie has been a leader in the Early Childhood Community in Central Oregon for over twenty years creating quality early childhood programs and participating as an active member of the Central Oregon Chapter of the Association for the Education of Young Children since 1996. She has been a volunteer for the Central Oregon Battering and Rape Alliance, Healing Reins and a Board Member for EquusEmbrace.

Kathy Skidmore, Resource Development Coordinator
Kathy has a BA in Journalism from Linfield College. She has experience in domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy programs as community outreach programs director, responsible for public relations, volunteer coordination and developing education programs for schools, community organizations and service professionals on child abuse awareness and prevention, domestic violence issues and personal safety. Kathy also worked directly with child and adult victims of abuse and their families, providing advocacy through the medical, legal and emotional aftermath of violence. Kathy has volunteered with SMART, Boy Scouts of America, St. Vincent dePaul and COBRA.

Amanda Smith, Interventionist
Amanda works with the 2-3 year old class, Infant class, and Respite and doing monthly home visits with families. Amanda has eight years experience in early childhood programs, including childcare for infants through 10 years old, Head Start working with 3-5 year olds, and facilitating parenting classes. She has a Child Development Associates certificate, and is currently working toward her BS degree in Social Services. Amanda has been active in fundraising for a program to supply low income parents with safe car seats, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Crook County Fire Department Auxiliary, and as a board member for Child Care Center.

Mendy DeLong, Interventionist
Mendy has a BS in Applied Psychology, minor in Business. She has 8 years experience in the field of social work, including working as a Family Support Worker with Healthy Families America, as a residential counselor for a foster care emergency evaluation shelter, and as a facilitator for infant massage, the Choices Program, Junior Achievement and SMART. Mendy plans to further her education with a Masters in Counseling and continuing in the social work field to enhance the growth and development of the children in our community.

Kathrine Edwards, Outreach Coordinator
A.A. in Early Childhood Education, 14 years experience in preschool and mentor teaching.

Robyn Lopez Melton, Interventionist
Finishing B.A. in Liberal Arts at OSU-Cascades, 3 years experience in Early Childhood Education, Bilinguist paving the way for our Spanish speaking families.

Laura Beverungen, Interventionist
B.S. in Early Childhood Development, 8 years experience in the Early Childhood field.
Fran Satterfield, Kitchen Manager
Fran oversees the food program for the classrooms, the family food box distribution program, and is an integral part of community outreach and fundraising for MountainStar. Fran has an AA degree in Secretarial and Office work, 12 years experience in private child care, 25 years teaching crafts to K through 6th grade. She volunteers to provide emergency respite care for MountainStar families and with programs at the Christian Life Center in Bend.
